Since June, visitors to Zoo and Tierpark Berlin have been able to experience magical summer evenings in the animal kingdom – tigers roaming through tall grasses in the late hours, bison settling down to sleep under old oaks, seals enjoying the last rays of sunshine in their rocky bay. As of last Friday, this after-hours experience can also include a tropical expedition through the home of leopards, crocodiles and songbirds in the Tierpark’s new Rainforest House. As the special summer offer quickly proved very popular with visitors of all ages, the Zoo and Tierpark decided to continue these evenings throughout August too.
“Even though the weather in recent weeks has been more suited to April than July, many visitors have already taken advantage of the opportunity to enjoy an evening stroll through our zoos,” reports Zoo and Tierpark Director Dr Andreas Knieriem. “And the positive feedback we have received via many different channels suggests they have thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially in times like these, we feel it is important to offer our guests special experiences and a place to escape to.”
Zoo and Tierpark Berlin will continue to welcome visitors on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5 to 8.30 p.m. until 28 August 2020. There is always something new to discover in these evening hours: at the Tierpark, the setting sun bathes the jungle interior of the renovated Alfred Brehm building in a golden glow, while at the Zoo, the new seal twins conquer the hearts of visitors with their big, dark eyes. Beautiful background music is also provided, with individual performances by Phileas, Liv Harper, Simon Fagan, Michael Brinkworth and David Stewart Ingleton. Tickets are strictly limited and must be purchased in advance online. As with the regular opening hours, annual pass holders must also book their evening slot online.
