Supper with Silvio, Silvana and Ralf

The silvery marmoset family were treated to one of their favourite foods: gum arabic, a type of tree sap.

The marmosets’ housemates, golden-handed tamarinds Tom and Jerry, also joined in the meal, which was served with a few nuts on the side – a real feast for the monkey gang!

Did you know that the incisors and canines in the lower jaw of silvery marmosets are the same length? In the wild, they use these teeth to scrape holes in tree bark so they can get at the tasty sap beneath.
