It was a heated celebration, more so due to the mid-summer Berlin heat. Even though the mercury reached 38°C, Berliners made the most of the celebrations at the Tierpark, dancing together to the music of the children's musicians "Frank and friends", "Petticoat", "Rumpelstil" as well as "Ulf & Zwulf", listening to the sounds of Radio Teddy and taking in the enchanting performances at the fairytale hut and the exciting reports from the stars of "Panda, Gorilla & Co."
Yet, what would a birthday be without cakes?! After the ceremonial welcoming of all guests, followed by congratulatory applause from the public, Tierpark Director Dr. Andreas Knieriem had the job of cutting the birthday cake and distributing it among guests together with the Mayoress of Lichtenberg, Birgit Monteiro, on the open-air stage. It certainly was delicious! And now the Tierpark looks forward to the next 60 years.
