Tierpark Berlin opens with hygiene concept

The safety of the animals remains the top priority.

Tierpark Berlin will reopen its doors on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after 20 days of preventive closure due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in the region. The protection of the animals remains the top priority. As part of extensive safety measures, susceptible animals were randomly tested since Tierpark Berlin is located within the officially designated 10-kilometer surveillance zone around the outbreak area in Hönow. All test results were negative; however, the reopening will proceed under strict hygiene and safety protocols.

Visitors can look forward to numerous highlights: the Rainforest House, the Primate House, the expansive savanna landscape, the Giraffe Trail, the Camel Meadow, the historic palace, the DinoTrail, as well as all playgrounds and gastronomy offerings (the "Patagona" restaurant and the "Strandkieker" snack bar) are open and invite guests to enjoy a memorable visit. The Himalays, the petting zoo with parts of the domestic animal section, and the three main paths leading to the palace, where the deer enclosures are located, will remain closed.
