Tree transplantation proves successful

With the opening of our African Savannah getting ever closer, today we look back at a big moment in its creation.

Last autumn, we transplanted three fully-grown trees. It was certainly a strange sight to see large ash and locust trees being transported upright on the back of a lorry, complete with roots and soil! Now they are firmly embedded in their new location in the Savannah – and the first animals are settling into the beautifully greened habitat.
