Family happiness in the pelican colony

There are currently several cubs in the pelican's winter quarters, including one that has been adopted.

The egg of a pair of spot-billed pelicans had fallen out of the nest and was no longer being cared for by its parents - which benefited two marine pelicans: The male marine pelican pair was keen to breed, and had even already had a dummy egg laid in the nest - which could be exchanged with the fertilized egg. The little spot-billed pelican chick was born on January 23 and has been growing up in the care of its two caring adoptive fathers ever since.
