It’s something we were all told as kids – and yet the animals at the Tierpark are encouraged to do exactly that!

Food-based behavioural enrichment stimulates our animals physically and mentally and promotes healthy, natural behaviour. In other words: lateral thinking and having fun are good for you! Our nimble-fingered capuchins skilfully extract locusts from their new food dispenser. The bright and lively primates very much enjoy the device, which was produced for us by Widukind Enrichments. A big thank you to all donors!

Behavioural enrichment is an important part of modern animal keeping. It includes many different elements – from habitat design and species cohabitation to foraging devices and toys.
