Hard on the outside, soft on the inside…

It’s clear to see why Ankylosaurus reminds many people of a tortoise.

    Not only did this dinosaur have a heavily armoured back rather like a tortoise’s shell, it also had a sort of toothless “beak” – great for plucking leaves off branches. Like many dinosaurs, Ankylosaurus was a herbivore. But when this gentle giant had to defend itself against attackers, the bony club at the end of its spiked tail must have been a big help!
