Still rather bleary-eyed, a rare dusky pademelon baby peers out of its mother’s pouch at the Alfred Brehm building. For a few weeks now, Fridolin and Finja’s joey has been poking its head out more and more frequently. We are not sure when exactly the youngster was born, as pademelons come into the world only about the size of a jelly bean and crawl immediately into their mother’s pouch. It can be up to six months before they first peek out of this safe hiding place.
