American White Pelican

Pelecanus erythrorhynchos

Can’t hide these feelings

It’s easy to tell when an American white pelican is ready to mate. A large bump develops on the top of the beaks of both males and females, which can grow as tall as seven centimetres. By the end of the breeding season, the birds shed this “horn”.
