    FURTHER INFORMATION

  • Beastly well learned

Nature stands as one of the four primary focal points of the George Orwell School's profile. In 2017, the school was honored with the Heinrich Dathe Prize for its dedication to nature and species conservation. As an official partner school of Tierpark Berlin, the George Orwell School aims to engage young people, in particular, in a deeper understanding of the natural world's biodiversity. Through this partnership, the school endeavors to raise awareness about how everyone can contribute in their daily lives to conserve resources, protect habitats, and ultimately safeguard species.

  • A unique exhibition

Berlin-based energy company GASAG supports the Tierpark by sponsoring its outdoor exhibition of Shona sculptures. This permanent exhibition of unique pieces from Zimbabwe provides a cultural enhancement to the Tierpark’s beautiful scenery.

    Modern research

Researchers from the Department of Neurology at Charité are studying spatial memory and navigation. In cooperation with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, they are investigating how people navigate in new environments and how landmarks and routes are stored in memory. The study is being conducted in the VITALAB.mobile, a truck equipped with virtual reality technologies. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Research Foundation (Sonderforschungsbereich 1315).

Together with our partners, we are committed to species protection, education and research. A huge thank you to everyone with whom we enjoy successful collaboration:
