Tours for adults & families

Led by your own personal Tierpark guide, you and your group can embark on an exciting discovery tour of Tierpark Berlin and its more than 9,000 animal inhabitants of many different species.

Choose between various tour themes and decide if you would like to book an additional exclusive experience (an animal feeding session or a glimpse behind the scenes).

Tierpark 360°

Who were the first animal inhabitants here at the Tierpark and how many were there? What exactly is Schloss Friedrichsfelde? And what might the Tierpark look like 20 years from now? Hear interesting anecdotes about the Tierpark and, naturally, its star attractions: our animals.

This 90-minute tour takes in bison, deer, peccaries and many more – letting you in on information such as which Tierpark species are found nowhere else in Europe and why flamingos are pink.
If desired, the tour can be designed around your group’s specific points of interest.

African safari tour

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “Africa”?
Wide savannah landscapes with herds of elephants, antelopes, zebras, ostriches and giraffes, perhaps?
The Tierpark Berlin safari may not take place on the real savannah, but it does provide the opportunity to get unusually close to amazing African animals in total safety.

Your guide will answer your questions and share lots of inside information about daily life at the Tierpark.

Species conservation

Species conservation efforts are among the most crucial tasks of all modern zoological facilities, including Tierpark Berlin. This means the extensive Tierpark grounds not only offer beautiful surroundings for long walks, they also provide shelter and protection for some of the world’s vulnerable fauna – like a modern-day Noah’s Ark.

On this eye-opening tour, your guide will explain why certain species are at risk today and outline the measures that are being taken to protect them. How do conservation breeding programmes work? What is ex situ and in situ species conservation? And how can each and every one of us contribute to species protection?

The lesser-known animal world

Everyone is familiar with elephants, giraffes and rhinos – but we’d be willing to bet you’ve never even heard of some of the over 700 species at Tierpark Berlin! Do you know which species of horse can withstand temperature fluctuations of around 80 degrees, what animals determine rank by their smell, and what Vietnamese sikas or guanacos are?

Join us on this 90-minute tour to find out the answers to these and other fascinating questions as we point the spotlight at some of the lesser-known animals of Tierpark Berlin.
