Feeding time for the African penguins

Feeding time is a fast and frantic affair in our African penguin habitat, with each bird determined to grab (sometimes more than) its fair share of the fish supper.

It’s not always easy for the younger penguins to assert themselves in the feeding frenzy, so our keepers take extra care to ensure they get what they need. The youngest, Elisabeth, hatched on 8 September. The fact that Queen Elizabeth II of England died that same day is merely coincidence, of course!
