Large Rococo Festival at Tierpark Berlin
Journey back in time to the 18th Century
Be a princess for a day? Many girls' dreams came true at Tierpark Berlin: The weekend of 22/23 August was devoted to Rococo here. Visitors to the splendid Schloss Friedrichsfelde anticipated a journey back to the 18th Century. Palace enthusiasts of young and old were able to stroll through the palace gardens in striking costumes. Historical dances, fencing shows and horse dressages painted the perfect picture. Exuberant children conquered the numerous labyrinths, while the adult guests feasted at the food stalls or strolled through the market. Those who were fast enough were able to even snatch a place on the coveted horse-drawn carriage.
The traditional Palace Festival took place in Tierpark Berlin for the sixth time now. Over 350 contributors made sure the programme was a colourful one and we would like to thank the sponsoring association of the Tierpark and Zoo Berlin for their organization and financing. And what a success it was: 18,755 visitors were whisked away back into the 18th Century.
"I was privileged enough to have experienced the Palace Festival for a second time now and I am once again thrilled with the commitment put in to make this unique event so successful, something of which cannot be found at any other zoological establishment." commented Dr. Andreas Knieriem, director of the Tierpark and Zoo.
One for the calendar: The next Palace Festival is due to take place on 20/21 August 2016.
