Ten years of candlelight dinners at the aquarium

When at one of the few private functions for a medical congress the idea was aired in 1996 to provide similar events not only for congresses, but also for the general public, scarcely any of us had thought that these candlelight dinners would become a permanent fixture in the pre-Christmas period.

With the utmost caution Zoo-Aquarium and the Steigenberger Berlin Team ventured the planning, and when the first candlelight dinner was initiated, it was a huge success as the first of its kind in Europe. Although there were occasionally private functions at other aquariums as well, none had dared the risk of selling tickets.

Here at Zoo-Aquarium it was a hit, and today about six thousand guests have used this opportunity to enjoy a festive candlelight dinner in a completely new environment under the omnipresent eyes of sharks, rays, and piranhas.

This year too the Steigenberger Team is again offering four pre-Christmas dates and one in January 2007: the candlelight dinner is also a highly coveted Christmas present.
